Amplitude with Astro
Amplitude belongs on a marketing site when it helps explain what happens after signup. I keep the event list small, tie identity to the product and leave out the tracking nobody will trust later.

How I set up Amplitude
Amplitude on a marketing site is worth the weight when it connects to the product, so the identity plan comes first: if the site sends one identifier and the product uses another, the funnel has a hole at the exact moment the business cares about most.
What I deliver is the short event list, named after user intent rather than button labels, wired to fire on the real success states rather than on page loads, with campaign attribution carried into the first product events and the SDK loaded so it does not cost the page.
How the handoff works
- 01
Event
Named, fired deliberately
- 02
Identity
The visitor, before they are anybody
- 03
Campaign
Parameters carried to signup
- 04
Product
The same person, in the product
Key handoff
- 05
Verify
The event schema checked against the plan
Why this is the key handoff
An event nobody trusts is worse than no event. The work is deciding what counts as an event before any of them are sent, then proving the ones that arrive carry the identity and the campaign that produced them. A small list somebody believes beats a long one nobody opens.

What to watch out for
- 01
The marketing site and the product count different people
Amplitude's device ID on the website and the user ID in the product are separate identities until something joins them. Without that, the funnel starts at signup and the acquisition half is invisible.
- 02
Shared naming rules prevent event drift
`Signup Clicked`, `signup_clicked` and `Clicked Signup` are three events in the same chart. The taxonomy gets an owner and a convention before the SDK goes on, because changing names later can complicate historical comparisons.
- 03
The SDK is not free on a marketing page
It is real JavaScript on the main thread of pages measured by Core Web Vitals, so I measure its impact and choose a loading strategy from that. Deferring it is usually right and it changes which early events you get.
